CHRISTMAS is the busiest time of year for posties across the Borders.

And Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire MSP John Lamont visited the the Royal Mail Delivery Office in Duns to deliver a message of festive cheer.

He met the staff who will be taking on the extra work over the next few weeks, with many delivery offices staying open late to deal with increased influx of letters and parcels, and thanked them for their efforts to ensure everything is delivered on time.

Mr Lamont said: “I always enjoy taking time out of my schedule to pay a visit to the Royal Mail’s Duns Delivery Office. The staff there are incredibly hard-working and I feel that it is only right that we thank them for their efforts not only at Christmas but throughout the year.

“Over the coming weeks when many of us will be warm in our homes, they will be out in all weathers to make sure that we get our Christmas mail. It is without doubt the busiest time of year for them and while we will get a chance to relax many of them will be working flat out.

“It was great to get a chance to thank them all in person for this work, as without it Christmas would simply not be the same.”
