A 24-YEAR-OLD man who was found in a Galashiels garden by a 14-year-old schoolgirl shortly before midnight when he was on a home curfew has been jailed for four months at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Gary Stewart was supposed to be within the property at Scott Crescent, Selkirk, between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

But he was found in the garden of a house in Lawyer’s Brae, Galashiels, at around 11.40pm on Wednesday, February 25.

Stewart appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to breaching his curfew.

Last week Stewart appeared in private at Jedburgh Sheriff Court accused of break-ins to three commercial premises in Galashiels town centre.

Stewart is charged with housebreakings at two hairdressing salons and a chemist shop last month.

He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.
