ONE of Scotland"s top female jockeys has admitted a contempt of court charge.
Jenny Riding was due to give evidence in the trial of her boyfriend Steven Frater but failed to turn up at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
The 25-year-old, formerly of Kelso and now working as a stablehand at top horse trainer John Quin"s racing yard in Malton, North Yorkshire, had heard on the grapevine that a warrant had been issued for her arrest.
She telephoned the procurator fiscal"s office saying she was prepared to attend at her own volition.
But when told the warrant would not be withdrawn and she would be arrested she responded that the police would never find her.
Riding appeared from custody and admitted a contempt of court charge.
Sentence was deferred until the outcome of Frater"s trial on March 16.
Last summer Riding - who was the runner up in the 2007 National Hunt Ladies Championship - escaped a prison sentence after admitting glassing a soldier outside a pub in Kelso.
She was ordered to carry out 200 hours community service.
