A DRINK-driver who lost control of her vehicle after striking the kerb and colliding with a parked car which, in turn, smashed into another parked car has been disqualified from driving for a year.
Elizabeth MacLennan, 55, injured herself and caused extensive damage to all three vehicles - one of which was said to be a write-off - following the incident outside her home in Galashiels Road, Stow, on the afternoon of November 27.
She was found to have 49mg of alcohol in her breath, when the limit is 35mg, after police arrived on the scene and conducted a roadside breath test.
On Monday, Selkirk Sheriff Court heard MacLennan had been drinking more since she was signed off work sick with stress.
But she claimed she only had three glasses of wine and was partly blinded by the low sun.
In addition to the ban, Sheriff Kevin Drummond fined MacLennan £400.

Low, winter sunshine can be a real menace and - in truth - was probably the cause of this unfortunate accident. But three glasses of wine - no matter how small - is three glasses too many. A painful - and expensive - lesson has been learned: DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES (unless you\'re crossing the Sahara Desert in a 4X4 with a camel on either side of the vehicle)
