THE family of a man murdered during a disturbance at his home in Hawick have revealed they have been left devastated by his death.

Christopher McColm, of Beattie Court, was rushed to Borders General Hospital after being found with serious head injuries on Friday, April 2, around 4.40pm.

He was later transferred to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh as doctors battled in vain to save him. But he later died of his injuries.

Paying tribute to him in a statement released by the police this week, Christopher's family said: "We are all totally devastated by the death of Chris, who was loved by all of us. He was a quiet, caring man who had a lot to live for, and we will miss him dearly.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our friends and people in the community for their messages of support at this very difficult time. We would be grateful if we could now be left alone to grieve in peace."

Police said they had arrested two men, aged 23 and 24 in connection with this murder. They were due to appear in court this week.

However, they are still appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

A police spokesman said: "We are delighted with the response we have had from the local community so far, however we remain keen to speak to anyone with any information that can assist our inquiries."

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
