POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for information after a stolen quad bike was found destroyed in the Borders.

Officers were contacted around 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday) after a member of the public discovered the green Kawasaki KLF300 abandoned and submerged within a burn near the Woodland Walk, School Road, Coldingham.

The vehicle, which had been stolen from the North Fallaknowe Farm over the weekend, had also been set on fire and sustained irreparable damage.

Police are investigating whether the theft of the bike is linked to the theft of two chainsaws from another farm in St Abbs and are now keen to hear from anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in or around the School Road area.

A police spokesman said: "This wanton act of reckless behaviour has resulted in the complete destruction of a quad bike valued at around 2,000.

"Anyone who saw the vehicle on Tuesday evening prior to it being set alight or who can help us identify those responsible is asked to contact police immediately.

"Similarly, we would also urge members of the public with information that can assist with our enquiries into the original theft, or the theft of the chainsaws to come forward."

Those with information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
