ROAD policing officers in the Borders will join partners from the Scottish Government and the local Students Union at ‘Freshers Week’ at Borders College in Galashiels, as part of next months National Rural Roads Campaign.
Inspector Richard Latto, from the local Divisional Road Policing Unit, said: "Freshers week is a great opportunity to speak to many young students starting college this year. Many will hold driving licences and travel throughout the Scottish Borders.
"At the moment, serious injury collisions on country roads is an area for concern, and it effects the Borders more than other regions.
"This week will give us an opportunity to give common sense practical advice on continuing to be being safe on the roads, whilst answering questions people might have around road traffic legislation."
Officers will be at the college today and tomorrow.
