EDUCATION authorities have confirmed that they confiscated bullets from a school pupil this week.
The pupil at Galashiels Academy was found with the ammunition on Monday morning by a member of staff during a workshop.
Although initial reports suggested the items were live ammunition, it is understood that they are replica World War One bullets.
A spokesman told us: “Despite posing no risk to other pupils or staff, the class teacher in charge was informed and immediately instructed the student not to bring the items into school again.
"The Academy has since contacted the parents/guardians to make them aware of the incident and advise them that it is unacceptable for such items to be brought to school.”
