THIEVES have stolen a mountain bike valued at £2,000 from a Borders property.

The incident happened sometime between 8pm on Tuesday, October 24 and 10.15am on Wednesday, October 25 at an address in Craigend Road in Stow.

A garden shed was forced open before a Giant Reign 08 mountain bike was stolen from within.

The bike is described as having a black frame and seat, pink handle bars and blue wheel hubs.

Constable James Harrison from Galashiels Police Station said: "The owner is obviously deeply upset at the theft of this very valuable bike and we are conducting inquiries within the local area to find it and trace the culprits.

"If you are approached by anyone trying to sell-on a mountain bike matching this one, then please contact police immediately.

"We would also be keen to speak to anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around Craigend Road between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning."
