A VIBRANT burst of colour is set to dominate Heriot-Watt’s Galashiels campus in the name of charity next month.

The Colour Run will get under way at Netherdale on Saturday, March 10, with entrants taking on a 5km course around the grounds.

Runners will be treated to a few colourful surprises with volunteers throwing pigment at the runners as they pass at four points along the route.

The family-friendly event will kick off at 10am and has been organised in partnership with Live Borders, the local charitable trust supporting healthy, active and creative communities.

All money raised will be split between the University’s Black Dog Campaign to help reduce the stigma around mental health and Live Borders.

The event was originally planned for last October but was cancelled due to ‘extreme weather conditions’.

Lucy Graham, vice president at Heriot-Watt’s Scottish Borders campus said: “We are all really excited to host a Colour Run for the first time here in Galashiels with our friends at Live Borders.

“It is an event that has proven to be hugely popular at our campus in Edinburgh and I would urge people to book their tickets fast.

“This is a great opportunity to not only get fit, have fun and raise money for two very worthwhile causes but to also help raise awareness around mental health.”

Admission to the event ranges between £5.50 and £31. Under 10s must be accompanied by an adult.

Booking is essential and spaces are limited.
