OLD Gala House's very own gardening squad have branched out - into rubbish.
The dedicated volunteers, who look after the gardens of the visitor attraction on Scott Crescent, have begun doing litter pick-ups in other areas of the town.
And they managed to fill 12 large bin bags in just a few hours last Thursday in the embankment and steps between Gala Park and the High Street.
The volunteers began collecting rubbish from the streets and parks towards the end of last year.
And they have now filled over 100 bags with discarded litter.
Their previous litter picks were done around Currie Road, Huddersfield Street, the Transport interchange and also Netherdale.
A spokesman told us: "This certainly highlights that the problem of litter is not going away, and very little seems to be being done to control the problem."
