WORK started his week on a new housing development in Langlee.

The £1.8million project by Scottish Borders Housing Association will see the creation of 10 brand-new three bed family homes at Rose Court.

The houses are replacing flats which were knocked down almost three years ago.

Henry Coyle, SBHA’s Director of Assets and Property Services, told the Border Telegraph: "We are delighted to announce the commencement of work at Rose Court.

"Quality, affordable family homes are in high demand in this area, and this project will also play a vital part in the regeneration of Langlee as a whole.

"This is part of our commitment to create great places to live throughout the Scottish Borders.”

The new homes will benefit from dedicated parking spaces and front and back gardens, as well as solar panels to allowing tenants to heat them more affordably.

Judith Cleghorn, chair of Galashiels Community Council, is delighted with the replacement houses.

She told us: "On behalf of the Langlee Residents Association and the Galashiels Community Council, I am delighted that work on the Rose Court development has started.

"We look forward to seeing these bright, modern houses taking shape and we are grateful to SBHA for keeping us up to date with progress.”

Building work, which is expected to last around 40 weeks, is being carried out by Hart Builders.

The new houses will be completed by the end of 2018 with the first tenants moving in just after New Year.
