The white van was last seen speeding off down Tweed Road, Galashiels.
A WOMAN was left shaken after her car was written off by a hit-and-run driver in Galashiels.
Alexis Glen was driving in the town's Abbotsford Road when her dark blue Renault Scenic was rammed from behind by a white Ford Transit van at the mini-roundabout opposite the Public Park.
She suffered a neck injury following the collision on Thursday, April 15, around 12.15pm.
However, when she went to swap insurance details, the other driver sped off.
Now police have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Reliving her ordeal this week, Alexis, a receptionist at the accident and emergency department at Borders General Hospital, said: "It just sickens me to think that someone can do this and get away with it.
"I was driving along Abbotsford Road when the car in front braked suddenly and the driver of the white Transit van drove right into the back of me - knocking me on to the roundabout.
"He initially stepped out of his vehicle and admitted it was totally his fault. He said it was his works van and suggested parking off the main road to swap insurance details. But then he sped off.
"I felt humiliated and was very shocked - I felt such a crash from behind as his van hit my car. There is considerable damage to my car and at the time it wouldn't start."
But she added: "If he can do this to me he can do it to anyone, and next time it could be a child and they might not escape with their life."
Police have caught the van on CCTV footage and appealed to the driver to hand himself in. A circular logo on the side of the van included the word "solutions".
They also want to speak to a man who came to the aid of the injured motorist and anyone else who was in the area at the time.
A police spokesman said: "The driver of the white Transit van initially stopped then was seen to drive off at speed in Tweed Road. The white van was last seen in the Gala foot area heading towards Melrose Road, Galashiels. It has a distinctive circular logo on the side."
