A 'Class of '73' Reunion was recently held in the Royal British Legion, Galashiels. It was organised this year to celebrate the 50th birthdays of ex-pupils and was well attended by pupils and five ex-members of staff.

Two visitors from Australia were present, along with one from Northern Ireland and several others from areas stretching from Northern Scotland to Brighton.

It was a chance for everyone to renew old friendships, with some people not having met for 34 years.

The teachers who attended were Mr Andrew Proudfoot, who welcomed everyone on behalf of the committee, Mr Jim Main, Mr Stanley Mayer, Mr Vishu Rele and Mrs Ann Grant (formerly Campbell).

A DVD was presented to everyone who attended which featured the opening of Gala Academy by the Queen Mother in 1964, old photos from school, up-to-date photos, world maps showing where ex-pupils are resident and photos from previous reunions. The next reunion is planned for 2021.
