Adam celebrates Diamond wedding
BRITAIN'S oldest ice-cream van operator has celebrated his diamond wedding anniversary in the Borders.
Ninety-year-old Adam Kelly, who runs Adam's Ices from his home in Langlee Drive, Galashiels, is pictured cutting a cake with his wife Betty to celebrate the occasion.
They tied the knot at Davidson's Mains Church in Edinburgh, on October 25, 1952.
The couple first met during his milk rounds after the war. Adam worked for a creamery, transporting milk from local farms to factories across the country, when he saw Betty on her way to visit her cousin at Ashiestiel - and literally scooped her off her feet by offering her a lift from the bus stop in his milk tanker.
They bought their first house together in Greenbank Street, Galashiels, for £60.
"We're getting used to each other now," Adam joked.
