FIRE crews had to cut three people from a car after it crashed into a tree near Galashiels on Friday evening.

The A7 was closed for almost three hours after the vehicle skidded off the road and struck a tree just before 8.30am.

Firefighters from Galashiels helped free the driver and his two passengers.

A woman suffered neck injuries while one of the men in the car is believed to have sustained a back injury.

All three were taken to Borders General Hospital.

Police closed to the road at Glenmayne to allow for the recovery of the vehicle and an accident investigation.

It later re-opened at 11.20pm.
