TRANSPORT cops are searching for floodlight thieves who raided a Galashiels building site last week.

Two sets of the lights, worth over £300, were snatched from railway works at Winston Road.

Officers believe the square black lamps were removed from a lighting tower between Monday at 5pm and the following morning.

Constable Morton Cowie, the British Transport Police officer in charge of the enquiry, said: “The stolen items are pretty distinctive and I am appealing for anyone who has information regarding those suspected of the theft or is offered them for sale in unusual circumstances to contact BTP.” British Transport Police can be contacted on 0800 40 50 40 or information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
