TWO Air Cadets from the Borders competed in the Scotland & Northern Ireland Athletics Competition at Grangemouth Stadium at the weekend - and ran off with six medals between them.
The Cadets from 2180 (Galashiels) Squadron were members of the South East Scotland Wing Team. Sgt Michael Birtwistle took Gold in the 100 and 200m sprints and silver in the 400m in the Youth Category, while F/Sgt Aaron Kerr took Gold in the 4x100m relay with a silver and Bronze in the 100m and 200m Sprints in the Junior Men Category.
Aaron was also Team Captain and was presented with the Championship Trophy by Group Captain J Leggat Regional Commandant Scotland & Northern Ireland Air Cadets.
Michael will represent Scotland & Northern Ireland at RAF Cosford on 21 June in the Air Cadet National Championship Athletics meet.
