A GALASHIELS teenager hanging around the benches in Market Square threw stones through the windows of two nearby flats in Overhaugh Street within the space of three weeks causing £600 worth of damage.

At Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday, James Stockman, 18, also admitted causing damage in his Penman Place home and throwing a television set out of the window after an argument with his sister on July 27.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of trying to steal a car from the forecour of the Central Garage in Island Street, Galashiels, on August 19.

Defence lawyer Mat Patrick said his client was a “vulnerable individual” and others were present at the time of the offending.

Sentence was deferred for four weeks for a restriction of liberty assessment to be compiled.
