SCHOOL-CHILDREN in Galashiels were given food for thought following their annual Harvest Service.

They visited the town’s St Peter’s Church to donate their offerings to the local food bank.

Balmoral Primary School pupils held their Harvest Service with Rev. Arthur Hembling. The children brought in lots of tinned and packet foods which P6 and 7 took out to the food bank. They also helped to bag up food parcels which is now such an important part of community life.

The pupils enjoyed the responsibility of helping out and understand what a difference the food parcel means to those in need.

Meanwhile, P4 and 5 at Glendinning Terrace Primary School also put their Harvest Assembly offerings to good use. They walked down to the food bank at St Peter’s on Tuesday, September 30. They had to carry all the food down to the church and then sort it into food groups ready for people to collect. They really enjoyed learning about it.
