AWARD-WINNING hair stylist Colin McAndrew, Director of Medusa in Edinburgh, visited Borders College recently to give a Masterclass in Cutting to Level 2 and Level 3 Hairdressing students.
During his day in Galashiels, Colin demonstrated a range of cutting techniques on several models. Students were able to see the most current and up to date techniques and how they then can be used to adapt styles easily.
Level 3 student Neil Whitehead enjoyed the demonstrations immensely. He said: “Colin was so good at interacting with us.” Colin chatted to the students about his experiences, his student training and on how he worked his way up in the profession. His salon Medusa regularly features in national and international media and are frequently called upon for expert tips and advice.
As well as touring the UK educating other hairdressers, Colin also presents hair shows, works backstage at fashion shows and on photo-shoots and recently has been inducted into the elite NHF Inspire hair team.
He enjoys regularly visiting Borders College giving his workshops in their state of the art hairdressing salon. Students thoroughly enjoy the sessions too and are looking forward to practicing some of the techniques shown.
Rhyan Hope Level 2 hairdressing student added: “What a most enjoyable fun session”.
