GALASHIELS guide Anna Houston has gained the highest achievement possible in the organisation.
The teenager, who is a member of the 1st Galashiels Guide Unit, was presented with her Baden-Powell Challenge Award by her Guide Leader Alison Henry.
To celebrate the honour a special penguin-themed party was thrown due to Anna’s favourite animal being a penguin.
Anna completed ten different challenges to earn the Baden-Powel Challenge Award, including the organisation of a birthday party for her younger brother, celebrating a festival from another culture, and also using her IT skills to make a new resource for the Guide Unit.
She also gained several badges, including Cook and Outdoor Pursuits, and she joined Guides from Edinburgh for her Baden-Powell Adventure weekend in the summer.
Last month’s party in Galashiels was attended by her family, friends and the rest of the Guide Unit.
All of the girls enjoyed this special evening, playing penguin games and activities, and tucking into a wonderful penguin cake made by Anna’s mum.
