GALA Waterways Group cleared vegetation near the stairs between High Street Car Park and Gala Park on Saturday, January 3.
Holly trees were cut-back near the middle of the stairs, and elder trees by the Mill Lade. The workparty also removed a tree-trunk from the Lade and collected 14kg of bagged rubbish.
The Group’s vice-chair, Alastair Lings, said: “It’s a year since missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints first helped on our work parties, and they have been fantastic supporters since then.
“This week we welcomed Elder Urbieta, from Ohio, to the Group, and said farewell to Elder Petersen from Alberta. We are very grateful to him for his help, and wish him well for the future.” The Group’s next event is their AGM at Old Gala House on Tuesday, February 3, at 7pm.
