A 37-YEAR-OLD woman who assaulted her long-term partner – whom she had previously saved from a heart attack – has been admonished at Selkirk Sheriff Court after being of good behaviour during a six month period of deferred sentence.

Anne-Marie Gass has been in a relationship with the victim – a woman 22 years her senior – for some 14 years.

Gass, of Hawthorn Road, Galashiels, originally appeared from custody and admitted assaulting her partner at their home on June 20, seizing her by the arm, and throwing a hairbrush which struck her leg, all to her injury.

At an earlier hearing, Procurator fiscal Graham Fraser described the background as “fairly complex”. He said: “They have been together for 14 years and the complainer is 22 years older. The accused was largely responsible for keeping her alive after she had a heart attack. An argument over family matters spiralled out of control.” Sheriff Kevin Drummond told Gass she had taken advantage of the opportunity given to her and imposed an admonition.
