A 20-YEAR-OLD man who held his mobile phone above a toilet cubicle in a superstore to film the people has been placed on the Sex Offender’s register.

Charles Clamp, 20, of Huddersfield Street, Galashiels, claimed he had been told people had sex inside the cubicles and wanted to record it on his phone.

However, on the first occasion he tried to make a video of a young male employee at Tesco in Galashiels, who was doing the toilet.

The Asperger’s syndrome sufferer immediately informed the store’s security and an officer checked the cubicles.

The security guard went into a cubicle beside an occupied one and feigned that he was doing the toilet.

Selkirk Sheriff Court was told that the guard then saw a mobile phone appearing above the cubicle and when he knocked on the next door he found Clamp inside.

Clamp pleaded guilty to conducting himself in a disorderly manner and repeatedly attempting to take photographs of people using the male toilet and commit and a breach of the peace on April 21 last year.

Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence until August 17 for reports while making an interim Sex Offender’s Register order.
