A WOMAN was rushed to Borders General Hospital after she was viciously attacked in Hawick on Friday.

The incident happened around 1 pm on Friday, October 14 on the Loan.

A 27-year-old woman was walking in the area, near to the junction with Beaconsfield Terrace when two men and a women approached and started to punch and kick her to the head and body.

The suspects then made off and the victim was taken to the Borders General Hospital for treatment to facial injuries.

Inquiries are ongoing to trace the group responsible and anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to come forward.

The suspects are described only as being white and aged between 35 and 40-years-old.

Constable Ryan Anderson from Hawick Police Station said: "This appears to have been a completely unprovoked assault that left the victim with some painful injuries to her face.

"We are pursuing a number of local inquiries to trace the people who carried out the attack and would ask anyone who saw what happened to contact us immediately.

"It is believed there were a number of members of the public in the area at the time and if you have information relating to this incident then please get in touch."
