JEDBURGH Town Hall will close unless it is handed over to a new trust, community councillors have been warned.
However, a lack of investment in the building in recent years has prompted fears the project may not be viable.
A steering group, which was set up to discuss the proposals, has revealed new funding may become available to carry out improvements to the building - including plans to install a cinema screen.
And, in a presentation to community councillors, it revealed it was hoped it could become “fully independent” within five years.
