TWO Newtown St Boswells men have been remanded in custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court in connection with a shop robbery during which staff were allegedly assaulted with an electrical implement.
James Irvine, who is 53, and 36-year-old Steven Modeste, were making their second private court appearance following their arrest.
They both face three charges of assault and robbery at the Original Factory Shop in Bowmont Street, Kelso, as well as possession of a prohibited weapon.
No plea or declaration was made and the pair were fully committed for trial.
There was no motion for bail and Sheriff Peter Paterson remanded them in custody.
During the raid on Monday, October 4, shop workers including pregnant 31-year-old Jacqui Young were assaulted, before a sum of money was stolen.
Police Scotland are still keen to trace a third suspect.
