A PUB in Melrose has been named one of the best in Scotland.

The Burts Hotel was this week awarded the Good Pub Guide's Scotland's Dining Pub of the Year.

It was noted for its welcoming bar and standard of service, as well as its interesting food and wide range of malt whiskies.

Welcoming the announcement this week, Nick Henderson, whose family run the Burts, said: "We are delighted to have won this prestigious award and it highlights our continued use of fine local produce and ever changing menus in both our bar and restaurant.

"We have an excellent team and we are really pleased to receive recognition for all the hard work. We thank all of those who voted for us and we promise to continue to deliver great food, wine, ales and whiskies."
