PRESIDENT Eileen Frame and eight members of Melrose Rotary assisted with the Melrose spring clean. As a normal yearly event, an evenings work by Rotary members can yield around 16 large bags of rubbish. However, this year there was much less rubbish around and the Rotary members were able to move onto another area. Even after scrambling around the woods and fields adjacent to the roads they only collected about five bags of rubbish - compared to 16 last year. Great news for Melrose that the roads around the town are cleaner and much more welcoming to visitors. Good news also for the Rotary 'Wombles’ who would like nothing better than litter free roads and no yearly work.
