Busy time of year for the Ex-Braw lads and Lasses

THE EX-BRAW Lads and Lasses Association have had a busy time recently.

A very successful sponsored walk took place and the association have donated £250 to Prostate Cancer, which was the chosen charity.

On Saturday 3rd May, a coffee morning was held in Trinity Church, this was well attended and the Ex Braw Lads and Lasses Association would like to thank those who supported this event.

A very successful presentation night was held on Saturday10th May,when Ex Braw Lad and Lass from 1998, Derek Forsyth and Angela Brown, presented the 2008 principals with their stocks and gloves.

Also that evening Mr Philip Macari, Chairman of the Braw Lads Executive Council, was presented with a cheque for £1000 from the Ex Braw Lads and Lasses Association Chairman, Mr Lawrence McPherson.

Over the next few weeks the Ex Braw Lads and Lasses Association have various functions and events that are open to any Ex principals who would like to participate.

The first of these is the riders social on Monday 23rd June, this is held after the Lindean ride out and this year the venue for the riders social will be Quins Restaurant.

The association have also decided to introduce a badge that will be available to those who complete the Lindean ride out.

The Ex Braw Lads and Lasses Association Annual Dinner will be held on Tuesday 24th June. This will once again be held in the Volunteer Hall starting at the earlier time of 7.30pm.

Tickets priced at £15 per person, for this function are available from Gordon Keddie on Galashiels, 753803.

Any Ex principals who would like to participate in the fancy dress parade on Wednesday 25th June, should contact Gordon Keddie on Galashiels, 753803 for further information.

Ex principles wishing to be part of the choir at the Braw Lads Investiture Reception, should meet in the upstairs lounge of the Volunteer Hall at 6.45pm, on Friday 27th June.

The annual march to the War Memorial will take place on Saturday 28th June and Ex Principles wishing to participate should meet at Bank Street Brae at 7.45pm.

The Ex Braw Lads and Lasses Association bus for Threepwood will leave the Volunteer Hall at 6.15pm on Friday 23rd May. All Ex principles are welcome to attend the Threepwood ceremony. Cost of bus is £5 per person.

To finish off the week the Ex Braw Lads and Lasses Association "Final Fling", will take place on Saturday 28th June in the Volunteer Hall at 9.00pm. Tickets for this can be obtained from Jill on Galashiels 752953 or Jackie on Galashiels 756000.
