HOW to whip up a healthy stir fry; avoiding the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases; managing money and avoiding getting into debt; how to deal with stress; keeping safe on the roads - these are just some of the many issues young people will be finding out about at this year"s Safe T in the Park.
Following the success of the event in previous years, Scottish Borders Community Safety Partnership has organised a bigger, bolder and even better Safe T event for 2008.
It takes place at Springwood Park in Kelso on Thursday.
Chairman of the Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Alec Nicol, said: 'Safe T in the Park is an ideal forum to highlight safety messages to the young people of the Scottish Borders and it can help enable the youth of today fulfil their full potential.
'It has caught the imagination of both the voluntary sector and the statutory agencies and is an event which the Scottish Borders Community Safety Partnership is very proud to be a part of. We are all committed to making the Scottish Borders a safer place to live.'
The aim of the day is to support young people through the challenges they may encounter as they move into their adult lives.
The day is based around nine interactive, fun and informative workshops in which teams of 5th year students from all nine Borders high schools will explore issues such as how to deal with stress, the legal issues surrounding drugs and alcohol, motoring, health improvement, fire, personal safety and wellbeing. The day will also provide an opportunity for young people to discuss issues affecting them.
