JEDBURGH has beaten off bigger Borders towns to win the rights to host the Military Tattoo this summer.

Organisers visited a number of sites across the region, including the Greenyards in Melrose and Kelso's Poynder Park.

But it was Riverside Park in Jed which was chosen to host the event - a mini tour of the tattoo to mark the Homecoming year.

The tour will bring around 500 performers to the area.

Scottish Borders Council convenor and Tattoo commentator told the Border Telegraph:'I am delighted that the Scottish Borders has been chosen as one of the hosts for the Taste of the Tattoo events.

'This is the finest show of its kind in the world with some of the world"s most talented performers, and this event will give Borderers a chance to be part of it.'
