A MISSING windsurfer from the village of Gordon has been named.

Nigel Dawes disappeared off the coast of Eyemouth last Tuesday.

And despite a major search, which did locate his windsurf, the 44-year-old wasn"t found.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: 'Mr Dawes is now missing presumed dead - there are no suspicious circumstances.

'He was an experienced windsurfer who enjoyed the sport all along the east coast.'

The father of three, who worked locally as a joiner, was an active member of Selkirk Baptist Church.

He was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon. Lifeboats and helicopters carried out a full-scale search of the coastal waters between Thortonloch and Cove.

A total of four lifeboats resumed the search on Wednesday morning - but it was later wound down.
