BORDERS College Horticulture and Landscaping students won gold at the Gardening Scotland awards for their 'Credit munch' entry.
The innovative garden was awarded the top prize for the College Gardens and also the award for the Best New Show Garden.
Student Emma Lindsay said: 'This was a fantastic experience for us all to showcase the practical skills gained on the course.
"We all worked very hard to build the garden and propagate all the plants on time and to budget. We were astonished to receive the Gold medal on our first attempt, as well as winning the best new show garden; it made all the hard work worthwhile.
"We would like to thank all the people who helped us to achieve this. I would also like to wish future students all the best with their exhibits.'
This week the garden has been rebuilt at Hobkirk Primary School, and the children had great enjoyment helping to replant it and naming all the plants they will be continuing to grow.
