LOCAL MSP John Lamont has expressed his disappointment at the news that Slumberdown are to axe 16 jobs in Hawick.

He said: "This is bad news for the workers and their families and another blow to Hawick. It is important that everything possible is done to support the workers who have been affected to help them find alternative employment.

"The Enterprise Minister recently accepted my invitation to visit the Hawick Development Committee to discuss what can be done to help stabilise the local economy. This dreadful news now makes this visit even more important."
