A 17-YEAR-OLD girl was left screaming for her life after being crushed by a bus in the Borders.
The teenager, who suffered a fractured foot and pelvis in the late night drama, was recovering from her ordeal in Borders General Hospital near Melrose this week.
It is understood she was hit by the number 52 Edinburgh to Kelso service, which is operated by Munro's of Jedburgh, after it was in collision with a parked car at the bus terminus in Earlston.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised last Wednesday, around 9.30pm.
However, after the driver was breathalysed, the bus and its passengers were allowed to continue on their journey.
Speaking to the Border Telegraph this week, a police spokesman said: "We can confirm we have received a report of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian in Earlston." But he added: "Enquiries are ongoing."
Munro's director Ewan Farish, who revealed it was the first time he was aware of the company have been involved in a collision with a pedestrian, said: "It appears to have been an unfortunate accident.
"We've not had an incident such as this before but we do have occasions where drivers encounter cars parked in bus circles."
But he added: "The driver's immediate concern was for the safety of the girl and he called an ambulance."
The Border Telegraph understands that the driver of the bus was assaulted shortly after the incident but police said they have no records of a complaint.

What on earth was the bus driver doing? Thats absolutely ridiculous!!! How is this girl now? I have travelled on many munros buses and to be frank they are too busy concerning themselves with cigarette breaks other than actually getting the drivers home. i could guess who was driving because he always works the late shift! I would have assaulted him too!

I can happily say that this girl is getting better although is lucky to be alive because if the bus had hit her head on or if she'd fallen under the wheels of the bus, the situation would have been much worse.
The driver has since been charged by the police after they gathered statements from witnesses which suggest the driver was reckless. The bus hit the girl at speed and crushed her against a parked car, breaking her pelvis and foot. The driver claimed to not have seen her !!
