Tearful bunny needs home

AN animal welfare charity is searching for a new home for a rabbit that is so lonely it cries every day.
Snowy, a seven month old albino crossbreed rabbit, has fallen in to a deep depression after his mum, dad and siblings all found new homes, leaving him alone and unwanted.
And, to make matters worse, he suffers from an unusual condition that makes his eyes constantly run with tears.
Snowy is currently being cared for at the Scottish SPCA's Borders Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Mellerstain, near Gordon.
He arrived with his three sisters and his mum and dad after they were removed from a home that was overrun with rabbits at seven weeks old in November 2009.
However, during the past year, all of his 'bunny family' have been rehomed leaving Snowy on his own.
Centre manager Debbie Innes said: "It is actually upsetting us to see him looking so sad. He only perks up when we give him a cuddle or some exercise."
"Snowy is starting to become very depressed. He has been on his own for a couple of months now and he is really fed up."
But she added: "He is such a lovable friendly rabbit, we just want someone to love him as he is."
The Scottish SPCA is hopeful that someone out there can give Snowy the loving home he desperately needs.
"A lot of people don't know that rabbits are normally very sociable creatures, who enjoy company and interaction," Debbie explained. "All too often rabbits are stuck in a hutch at the bottom of a garden and it's a fact that many rabbits end up suffering from boredom.
"We're hoping Snowy's new home will be one where he receives lots of human attention and plenty of exercise and play. He could even be suitable as a companion to another rabbit."
She added: "He developed runny eyes caused by his tear ducts blocking up. Whilst with us, he has had his tear ducts flushed twice to see if this would solve the problem, but the vet has said that he may always be prone to runny eyes, but as long as his new owner keeps his eyes clean, he will not have any problems."
Anyone interested in rehoming Snowy can visit the Borders Centre at Mellerstain or call the charity's Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
