Heriot-Watt honours model pupils

A SIXTIES style icon was awarded an honorary degree in the Borders last week in recognition of her outstanding contribution to fashion.

Barbara Hulanicki, who is known for introducing brand name Biba to the UK, was awarded a Doctorate of Letters at Heriot-Watt University's graduation ceremony at Old Parish and St Paul's Church in Galashiels on Friday.

She was presented with the award by lecturer Mark Timmins, from the School of Textiles.

Scores of students attended the prize-giving ceremony, which was attended by the university's Chancellor Baroness Susan Greenfield and Principal Professor Steve Chapman, to receive their certificates.
