CANNABIS plants have been unearthed following a raid on a flat in Galashiels.

Police said the occupant of the property in the town's Beech Avenue, a man aged 35, has been charged with possession, and production of controlled drugs.

It is also alleged a quantity of herbal cannabis and tablets, believed to be Valium, were found during the search on Wednesday last week.

Police said a report outlining the circumstances would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
