Teenager receives virtual fine

TEENAGER Steven Murphy reacted angrily to comments a youth had written about his girlfriend on a social networking site.

He punched him three times on the head in Glen Road, Peebles, on August 2 last year.

Sentence had been deferred for nine months for good behaviour.

Fining the 18-year-old of Witchwood Crescent £100, Sheriff Kevin Drummond said: "Whatever else was going on you were wrong in the way you dealt with it."
