PLANS have been submitted to build a wind farm north-east of Lauder.

PNE Wind UK has revealed it wants to construct a total of 10 turbines at the Brunta Hill site - each with a maximum blade tip height of 126.5metres.

The developers claimed it would produce enough electrcity to power power 13,400 homes.

Gilbert Stevenson, Brunta Hill Project Manager, said: "PNE have listened to the views of the local community and worked hard to design a scheme that takes their views into account.

"We believe that Brunta Hill is a low impact wind farm, sensitively designed and appropriately sized for this location."

The proposals for the development went on show to the public earlier this year.

Open days in Lauder and Westruther were staged with representatives of the company on hand to answer questions about the scheme.

But PNE WIND UK officially submitted a planning application to Scottish Borders Council on Thursday.
