Health scare closes swimming pool
A HEALTH scare forced the closure of the swimming pool in Galashiels last week.
The Border Telegraph understands a faulty thermostat may have been to blame for the closure on Monday night.
However, it is understood a number people also reported headaches after using the facility which remained closed yesterday (Tuesday).
A spokeswoman for Borders Sport and Leisure Trust told us: "It was a purely precautionary measure to close the pool as there was a problem with CO2 levels which controls the PH levels of the water. It will open as soon as the fault is rectified."
It was expected that the Livingstone Place pool would re-open either last night or this morning.
A statement on the pool's page on social-networking site Facebook on Monday said: "We are closed tonight due to technical problems. Sorry for any inconvenience."
