David Wright has not been seen since last Saturday. The 55-year-old was last spotted in Morpeth at around 9.40am - he told friends he was going to the shops.
He is described as being around 5ft 8ins tall, with short sandy coloured hair in a side parting.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "When he was last seen he was wearing a khaki coloured shirt, black trousers, black trainers and a dark jacket. "
