Council issue winter warning across the Borders

SCOTTISH Borders Council is encouraging residents across the region to make sure they are well prepared for winter following the snow at the weekend.
The local authority is supporting the national Get Ready for Winter campaign, which urges people to 'think ahead' and be prepared for all kinds of severe weather, which can occur at any time of year but most likely will hit us during the winter months.
Whether at home, in the community or out on the move, everyone needs to consider the risks and consequences of severe weather and how we - and the people we live and work with - could be affected.
Councillor Donald Moffat, Executive Member for Community Safety said: "It's important that we are all ready for the winter months, especially the cold weather and all that comes with it. SBC will be issuing advice on how to be prepared in the home, on the move, in the community and the workplace over the coming weeks.
"The communities in the Borders are among the closest knit in the country and have excelled during severe weather in the past. I am confident that if we do see similar conditions again this time around, residents will work closely together to make sure they, their friends, family, workmates and communities stay safe. A big part of that is making sure we're well prepared."
