Galashiels Town Band was presented with a cheque for £810 from the proceeds of prints of a Border Reivers painting.

The original painting of the Reiver is by local artist Rob Black who donated it as a gift to mark the opening of A & A Doyle Limited, Funeral Director's in Bank Street.

The original painting hangs in their office.

The firm has funded the production of a limited edition print run of 400 prints which they are selling to support the development of Galashiels Town Band.

Iain Wilson, treasurer of the Band, said: "The Band is investing large amounts of time and money in developing a new generation of young players. Nearly 50 children now receive free tuition each week under the baton of Musical Director, Stuart Black. The funds generated by the sale of these prints will greatly assist the band in supporting this work."

The prints, which are mounted and ready to frame, continue to be on sale to the general public from A & A Doyle Ltd, Funeral Directors at 10 Bank Street in Gala.
