SCOTTISH Borders Council has placed temporary traffic lights on the A7 south of Stow, as a result of a collapsed road side embankment caused by the recent heavy rain.

The traffic lights are required to ensure traffic going north keeps away from the weakened structure of the road.

Engineers will be undertaking a site survey and inspection to determine a solution as soon as possible.

The Council fully understands that this is a particularly busy road and would like to thank drivers in advance for their patience and co-operation.

At the moment, it is unclear how long the traffic lights will be in place, but further information will be issued as soon as is possible.
