JULIE Hill and her dog Ban won the 2014 Scottish National Sheepdog Trials for the second time at Denholm, near Hawick, Scottish Borders on 9th August.

She is the only woman to have won the Scottish Championship since its inception in 1922; the only woman to have won any of the Home Nations Championships; and the only woman to have won the International Supreme Championship (Champion of Champions) (in 1996 with Moss) and one of the few people to have won the Supreme and International Brace Championships. The last time Julie won the Scottish Championship was with Gwen in 1991.

In addition to her many successes on the trial field with multiple dogs, Julie has pioneered a unique approach to dog handling, similar to ‘horse whisperer’ techniques, suitable for pet dogs as well as working dogs. She has very recently published a new book and accompanying DVD on her method – The Natural Way – available from Julie’s website: http://www.nethhillbordercollies.co.uk/ Juie is tenant farmer at Carcant Farm, Heriot, and offers demonstrations and teaching both there and at clinics around the UK and overseas.
