ST BOSWELL’S-based lawyer Andy Drane is celebrating after picking up his second prestigious national legal award this year.

Mr Drane is head of the Environmental, Waste and Renewables team at Edinburgh-based legal firm Davidson Chalmers. At last week’s 2014 Law Awards of Scotland ceremony, held in Glasgow, his team took the plaudits winning the Scottish 'Energy Firm of the Year’ award.

Meanwhile in March this year he was also named as the Specialist Solicitor of the Year for his work in the renewable energy sector at the 2014 Scott & Co Scottish Legal Awards.

The judging panels for both awards programmes included some of the nation’s top legal experts who were impressed with Andy’s sector focused and client-led strategy.

Commenting on his latest award, Mr Drane said: “I’m really delighted with these awards, especially this latest one as it recognises the achievements of the entire team.

“Living in the Borders, where there is such a wide range of renewable energy initiatives under development, has given me an even stronger understanding of the issues, opportunities and challenges associated with the successful implementation of solar, hydro, bio-mass and anaerobic digestion (AD) energy projects.” Andrew Chalmers, Managing Partner of Davidson Chalmer, added: “These awards highlight Andy’s capabilities and experience and rightly recognise him as one of Scotland’s top legal specialists. He is an experienced and talented member of our firm who has built a great team around him and we’re delighted to be celebrating his latest success.”
