THE new Head Team at Jedburgh Grammar are not short on ambition.

And now they want to inspire their peers at the school by highlighting the achievements of past pupils.

Head Boy Caelyb Lockett and Head Girl Nicole Wilson, along with their Deputes Ben Astles and Claudia Cawthorne, revealed they plan to transform one of the building’s corridors into an “Avenue of Ambition” to create a lasting legacy of their time as Head Team.

As well as high profile sports stars, musicians and politicians, such as Scotland rugby player Greig Laidlaw, Fame Academy singer Ainslie Henderson, and Borders MP Michael Moore, they want to hear from former pupils who have gone on to fulfill their dreams, by setting up their own business, excelled in their field or perhaps taken an unusual career path.

They are inviting them to write a statement about their experience which could be displayed in the school and current pupils could aspire to emulate.

Caelyb, aged 17, told the Border Telegraph: “This idea would leave a lasting legacy of our time working as the Head Team rather than just one-off events, although we will still be running those during the year.” The Head Boy and Girl, and their Deputes, will meet with other Head Teams from secondary schools across the Borders at Earlston High School on Tuesday, September 16.
